News: Mustang Skills Assessment this Saturday

This Saturday, February 25th, the Mustang skills assessment will take place at Rio Tierra Jr High at 8:30am. Please show up early so you can check in for the skills assessment.
The Skills Assessment is not a try-out. All the players registered for recreational baseball make a team. The Skills Assessment gives the coaches and managers a chance to assess each players current skill level. After the assessment a player draft is held with all the coaches and managers of the division and teams are formed.
News: Limited spaces available for the 9U, 10U and 11U Select Teams

In addition to Recreational baseball this year NYB will have 3 Select Baseball Teams, 9U, 10U and 11U. Select Baseball is for players who would like to play at a higher level during the regular season. Our NYB Select teams will be playing other Pony Select teams in and around the Sacramento area. Our home field will be at Rio Tierra.
If you are interested in playing Select Baseball for the 2012 season please send your contact information to select_info@natomasyouthbaseball.org. Spaces are limited in the 9U, 10U and 11U divisions.

OUR FIRST 50 YEARS
Its exciting to look back to 1959 at the growth and history of our community and of Natomas Youth Baseball and Softball. Our affiliation with PONY Baseball and Softball International and Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball has allowed us to be able to grow and adapt to the changing needs of our young ballplayers. While it is fun to recall the old fields across the street, the old boxcar we used for storage, the tournaments we have hosted for teams from throughout Northern California, and that last season we had a fourth-generation player take the field, it is the future that is the most exciting.
Our association with PONY Baseball and Softball provides several advantages to our youngsters. We are divided in two-year age groups, so players will only play with, and against, players who are within one year of their age. Our fields get bigger as the players grow in size and skill. This also means that players who are twelve years old do not play on the same fields they did as five-year olds. As they progress through the divisions, players who are 9 and 10 years old find themselves playing the same game and by the same rules as they see being played on television, only on a field that fits their skills and having fun. To help develop the social and citizenship skills that come from participating in team sports, we encourage friends and neighbors in the younger divisions to sign up to play together.
